About netViz webView

Q - What are the options for publishing to the web?

WebView Standard

NetViz produce a web publishing server, which allows full read only projects to be published to an intranet / internet. One command generates a Web-server database from the netViz documentation. People accessing this graphical database through a Web browser not only see the drawings, but can also navigate the project's vertical hierarchy and view all embedded data for every object. Web publishing supports SQL databases on Windows 95, 98 and NT servers.

Features are as follows

  • Rest the pointer on a node or link and instantly see the user-defined data for that object.
  • Documents can be opened directly from the web browser, by modification of the drill down behaviour.
  • Double click on a node to drill down one level.
  • Do data searches over the Web directly from a diagram. Search for
  •      Any object or link by name or data value;
  •      All objects of a specific type;
  •      All objects that have specified text or numerical values in a key field or other field
  • Print Templates can now be viewed over the web.

Q: How does webView Standard differ from webView Pro?

A: - With added functionality Web Publisher has now become part of the web server range of netViz products. Now known as webView standard It now offers the following enhancements.

  • The ability to modify the double click behaviour of a node. Word documents, Excel charts and Web addresses can all be accessed straight from the node.
  • Double Click Drill Down, All nodes now have double click drill down, eliminating the need to link through the inspector window from previous versions.
  • Print Templates available. In previous version of the web publisher print templates were not carried over on to the web view. In webView standard all print templates can be viewed.
  • Improved look and feel of the projects, with changed colours scheme and added buttons.

Improved performance, the hierarchy browser now loads faster. Bug fixes have been added to solve a degradation problem with oracle databases.

Q: How do the user groups work?

A: - A group is set up by adding the users e-mail and assigning a password. All members of the group will be notified by e-mail when their project is updated.

Q: Can webView work with earlier versions of netViz?

A: WebView is designed for version 5 and above. In order to publish the project correctly all the backgrounds must be embedded. In version 5 and above all of the background are embedded into the project automatically. This embedding is not integral in version 4.
